Accuracy

I started shooting handguns and long rifles around the age of six. My father being in the Army and an avid gun collector, it was just natural that I grow up shooting. Admitted I suck with handguns, not sure why but anything larger than a .22 and I cannot consistently hit anything. I'm decent with a 1911 Colt combat commander, but not good. However, I'm the exact opposite when it come to rifles. Doesn't matter if it has a scope or not. Hand me a rifle, point at something, and I'll hit it.

Now I first played paintball last august and fell in love immediately. I did the typical noob move and bought a bunch of gear that I probably should not have (BT padding that makes you look like a ninja turtle). While I love the sport, my history with real firearms drives me crazy when playing paintball. Yes I understand why paintball markers are not as accurate as rifles, but I constantly seem to be in search of the most accurate marker/barrel/paint on the planet. I have even considered saving up and buying the T9.1 sniper rifle, but I'm smart enough to know that I will own a really expensive marker and still not be satisfied. I have a feeling that this will become my white whale in regards to paintball.

It went something like this and hopefully some of you can relate. Rental markers<A5<A5 with pathogen barrel<Axe<Axe with pathogen barrel<Axe with pathogen barrel and ifit kit. And yet, nothing still seems to be good enough. Eventually I will have to just accept that I will probably never find a marker that is nearly as accurate as I would like and I will have to settle for getting really good with my Axe and Kentucky windage.

the first strikes ARE what you are looking for.wait until this summer then pick up a tacamo kit on the 2nd had market after all the players dump theirs. IK went as far as having a custom bolt action marker made for my accuracy needs. it's slow but puts the paint on target.

Oh I'm with you there. With firearms I'm pretty accurate, enough to scare the crap out of people at the range. But as I've said many times, you're effectively shooting a paint filled musket ball. There's only so much accuracy you can get out of it. But, we all know this. The first strikes do work as advertised, but they're prohibitively expensive. However, there's really no need to go the rifle route with a Tiberius - I know a great many people that use the pistol for sniping, and it's been a route I've considered taking. However, those mags are not cheap, and can be twitchy.
I'm going to wait for awhile, probably for the M14 Milsig is putting out, since it's supposedly going to be FS capable. If I can wait that long anyway.

You talking about their mag conversion kit? Can you tell me more about this bolt action of yours? Pics as well if possible please.

The cost of first strike rounds really does not bother me. I have thought about going the T8.1 route, I just have trouble diving in without seeing it in action or trying it first.

Well, I don't have one, otherwise I'd let you borrow it. That may change depending on the job situation, but I am still considering it. I'll definitely be remote-lining it, just because I go through too many 12g's as it is.

There is one advantage of a rifle for First strikes over a pistol. Stable firing platform.

Damn Melkson, I would love to see that thing in action. Nate, I never claimed my quest for more accuracy was rational, just a by product of shooting real guns first and always comparing markers to that. Beside, you are slow so shooting you doesn't count. j/k.

    Nice seeing you guys yesterday!

You are welcome to see 'Charlene' in action (or even try her out) At the Hole on April 7th. Limited paint day, mostly pumps and pistols.

Melkson = Hmmm, that is quite tempting sir.

nweaver = You can use my real name on here, it's cool. I've just used Sammot00 for so long that it is a habit.

In general, I had a revelation this weekend. Any time that I'm not happy with the distance or accuracy of my autococker or Axe, I should play a game or two with my A5, then switch back.

Eh? Whyforto? I was getting some killer distance shots on the first Alamo game - and I was hitting too! I head shot one guy, not as sweet as the gog shot you got on me 3 weeks ago, but still pretty ferkin' schweet. And that was with my A5!

My A5 rocks, especially if I can get the flatline barrel tuned well, but the autocoker and Axe are more accurate overall. I have not used the A5 in awhile though so I might go tactical only here in the near future.

Take the Flatty off. Throw on the a5 adapter and put the iFit on. You'll do well, I think.
Too bad I'm not playing this weekend - I'd have you take my TPX out, it's spooky how it does. I was putting shots through the slits consistently from outside of the courtyard.

Yes!! Sometime after April 15th, I would love to break out my 98custom. It's been sitting in the closet for over a year now.

yeah, I have an A5 adapter for my ifit but I have not used it yet. The wife has used it and liked it. Let's pick a Sunday in May and declare it tactical day.

I had my wife pick up a tube of first strike rounds today at hustle. I'm going to breach load them into my autococker and do a slightly less than scientific comparison against regular paintballs, hopefully this weekend. I'll probably get fancy and drag out my range finder as well and use the hyperball field. If the first strike rounds can come close to hit what i'm aiming at from one side of that field to the other, i'll be convinced.

I would love to try out the tpx, it has been on my Hustle.com wish list since I started playing paintball.
